The ÜberBots took home their second straight Suffield Shakedown victory today at the first competition of the season. Playing against over 30 teams in three different states, the ÜberBots would try their hands at the 2009 game, Lunacy.

At the onset, however, the ÜberBots fell upon hard times. Tough competition and costly penalties caused the team to drop all of their qualification matches. Going into the playoffs, the team was graciously picked by Team 126, Gaelforce, and went on to pick Team 195, The CyberKnights. But the alliance's troubles would not end there.

After a tough match, the alliance lost their first playoff match. But, showing their tenacity in the face of adversity, the alliance began a ferocious rally. In the following match, the alliance would score a record 101 points on their way to a blowout victory. From there, the team would advance to the Finals after a resounding victory in game three.

The first game of the Finals went to the ÜberBots' alliance. After a series of technical issues, the second game went to the opposition. What followed was perhaps the most exciting finals match in the team's history. Fiery offense clashed against tenacious defense as the two alliances clashed. But in the end, a clutch super-cell score put the Gaelforce-ÜberBots-CyberKnights alliance ahead, 65-64.

Our congratulations go out to all who participated at the event, who helped make the win possible. In addition, our thanks go out to: Team 176, Aces High, for hosting the event, Team 126 for their gracious leadership of the alliance, and Team 195 for their great teamwork.

   Hey Everyone!

This Saturday, February 14th, the ÜberBots will be attending the Suffield Shakedown Competition. Everyone attending must come to the high school at 6:30am and we will be returning at around 6pm. However, competitions are known for running late, so the return time is an estimate. Please sign a permission slip and bring it to one of the meetings or the day of the competition. You will need at least $10 for lunch and we would like everyone to wear their 2008 blue ÜberBots shirts. If you have your own safety glasses, please bring them. See you then!

     Hi Team,

Due to the early dismissal, tonight's meeting is cancelled. Please remember that we have the Flatbread fundraiser tomorrow night. Please wear your blue team t-shirt or sweatshirt. Try and get your friends and neighbors to come. There are some great door-prizes like Ski Sundown passes, a spa treatment, and a free night's stay at Residents Inn!

     See you tomorrow!

The ÜberBots attended the annual Bash at the Beach competition at Lyme-Old Lyme Middle School today, along with almost 30 other teams. The day was great fun, and team focused on training its new members in all the roles of competition. Whether it was Spirit, Scouting, Pit Crew, Energy Management, or Drive Team, the senior members of the team guided and trained their teammates. By the end of the day, the team became a well-oiled machine. In the qualifiers, the ÜberBots posted an excellent record of 5-2, before moving on to the playoffs. There, they parterned with Team 181, The Birds of Prey from Hartford and Team 195, The CyberKnights, from Southington, as the 8th seed alliance. The three teams went on to sweep the quarterfinals, before falling to Teams 190, 121 and 238 in the semi-finals.The team would like to congratulate and thank all involved for their hard work and cooperation

   September 28th, 2008

As they have in years past, the ÜberBots attended yet another fun-filled Avon Day. We set up in our signature corner booth, and spread the joys of science and technology to our community. This year saw the return of the popular hair coloring, tattoo-applying and ball-throwing shenanigans. In addition, the team also lead the first ever Avon Day parade, winding through booths with their award-winning 2008 Robot, Lightning on the way to the stage. There, the team gave an excellent presentation in front of an audience of hundreds, explaining our history, achievements and what we do. And even in the midst of all the commotion, the team found time to take pictures with Simsbury Bank, Dr. Kisiel and Mr. Beaudin. To round off the day, the team participated in the 2nd annual pie eating contest, which was won by none other than team president Sirui Sun.

All in all, it was a great day, and our congratulations and thanks go out to all who participated. For all those interested, our next meeting will be on Thursday, October 2nd.

     See you there!

The ÜberBots started off the official 2008-2009 season on a great foot tonight at our first public meet. Buoyed by the biggest turnout in our collective memories with 16 new members, the team wasted no time. Splitting into subteams, the old members refamiliarized themselves even as they shared their knowledge and enthusasim with the newer members. As the night progressed, we laid down the foundations of what is sure to be a highly successful and tightly motivated squad, and had fun while doing it.

There will be another meeting on Thursday at 7pm, September 25th, in preparation for Avon Day on the 27th or 28th (depending on the weather). New members are reminded to bring $10 to buy a team shirt, and also to bring any friends who would be interested. Also, the team would like to invite anyone who missed the first meeting to catch up with us on Thursday - it's not too late to join!

     See you there!

   Hey everybody,

As you may or may not know, the ÜberBots have been invited to present at the Medi2008 Convention, this upcoming Tuesday and Wednesday (9/9 - 9/10) from 3:00pm - 7:00pm at the Hartford Convention Center. We will be bringing our robot, and will be given a 10 x 20 foot booth. This is a great opportunity for all, but especially to those those who are interested in the field of medicine, since many highly respected doctors will be attending the Convention. We will need people to talk about our program, as well as at least one 1st and 2nd driver.

If you\'re interested in going, please e-mail Sirui Sun at [email protected]. Rides will be arranged via carpool/independent travel, since this is an outside of school activity. Also, be sure to wear your 2008 ÜberBots shirts!

     Thanks,
     The Management Team
