Minimum Operation Packing List

The following is a list of the bare minimums required to operate the robot, either at a competition (note: this is nowhere near a full competition packing list, however, just a compilation of the BARE MINIMUM required for the robot to run) or at a demo. This should be a part of every packing list that involves an event where the robot will be operated, and may change from year to year.
  • Robot of choice - believe it or not we really did almost forget the robot once
  • Control board with appropriate joysticks/switches/labels for robot
  • Networking hardware- check to make sure there's a bridge on the robot and a router (if necessary) for the driverstation and that the Classmate's network connections are properly configured.
  • Network cables- make sure the networking hardware is properly connected to the robot or Classmate
  • Battery- if it's sitting in the robot already, check to make sure it's CHARGED before you take it
  • Tether cable- Because you know you're gonna need it. Currently a standard CAT5 ethernet cable
  • Power adapter for control board... that's important
  • Extension cord- you never know how far you will be from a power outlet
  • Extra battery(ies)- another good idea, especially if you're going to want to run the robot for long periods of time
  • Battery charger- so you can charge the extra battery and be ready to go when the one in the robot runs out

If, by any chance, you need to operate an older robot that still uses the IFI control system, here's a list of other things you will need to bring. You will not need to bring the networking hardware/cabling from the list above.
  • Radios- check to make sure they are on the robot AND the control board
  • Radio cables- make sure the radios are actually connected to the OI and the RC, or they ain't gonna do you much good
  • Tether cable- That red DB9 female-female serial cable that's been gathering dust for a while (plugs into 'tether' ports on OI and RC)
  • Proper Joysticks- Try ones that actually plug into the OI, NOT USB joysticks, those come later
